I have harbored a deep-seated desire to learn the art of playing chess for as long as I can remember. The allure of the game captivated me as I watched skilled individuals engage in strategic battles on television, each move calculated and deliberate. Despite my fascination with the game, the opportunity to delve into the world of chess had always eluded me until recently.
My first attempt at playing chess with my husband ended in a swift defeat that left me feeling disheartened and ready to abandon my aspirations. The speed with which he outmaneuvered me on the board was a stark reminder of my inexperience and lack of skill in the game. However, a turning point came when I stumbled upon the critically acclaimed movie 'The Queen's Gambit', a cinematic masterpiece that shed new light on the beauty and complexity of chess.
Inspired by the protagonist's journey in the film, I found myself drawn back to the chessboard with renewed determination and a fresh perspective. The story of resilience, passion, and triumph portrayed in 'The Queen's Gambit' reignited my passion for the game and instilled in me a newfound sense of purpose. Armed with a newfound sense of motivation, I embarked on a journey of self-improvement and growth in the realm of chess, eager to unlock the secrets and strategies that had previously eluded me.
Through diligent practice, study, and a willingness to learn from both victories and defeats, I gradually honed my skills and developed a deeper understanding of the game. Each move became a calculated decision, each match a test of wit and strategy. As I delved deeper into the intricacies of chess, I discovered a world of endless possibilities and challenges, each move opening up new horizons and pushing me to expand my boundaries.
In the end, it was not just about winning or losing, but about the journey of self-discovery and personal growth that chess facilitated. The game became a metaphor for life itself, teaching me valuable lessons in patience, perseverance, and strategic thinking. With each game played, I found myself growing not just as a chess player, but as an individual, embracing the challenges and triumphs that came my way with grace and determination.
I am now deeply immersed in the world of chess, where I have come to realize that this game is far more than just a simple pastime. It is a profound intellectual pursuit that delves into the realms of strategy and foresight. As one delves deeper into the intricacies of chess, it unveils itself as a rich tapestry of life lessons waiting to be discovered. On the chessboard, one witnesses a myriad of events unfold, each offering valuable insights that can be applied to one's daily existence. Through chess, one learns to identify opportunities, to strategize for an advantage, to discern patterns, to make sacrifices for the greater good, and to experience the exhilaration of executing a successful attack, among numerous other intriguing facets.
Among the many lessons that chess has imparted to me, one stands out as particularly poignant: the queen, not the king, reigns as the most potent piece on the board. With her ability to move in any direction over vast distances, the queen embodies unmatched power and versatility. In contrast, the king's movements are limited to a single step in any direction. While the king holds a pivotal role, it is the queen who commands the board with unparalleled authority.Reflecting on this aspect of the game, I have often pondered why the queen assumes such supremacy in chess while societal norms often place the king in a position of dominance. It was through this contemplation that a profound realization dawned upon me: women, like the queen, wield immense influence and strength. Despite societal perceptions of physical strength, women's capabilities and roles are not to be underestimated. They hold a unique power to shape and influence the world around them, much like the queen on the chessboard.
In the 20th century though, the queen is still underestimated. It all started with the first wave of feminism; a necessary movement that empowered women with options like going to work, family planning, owning property and having freedom to pursue a career of choice among other things. Then came the third wave of feminism however, that is peddling different messages that undermine the divine feminine; masculinity is seen as the ultimate indicator of power and success, softness or femininity are seen as weak, insisting that men and women are the same, the choice of submission in the family unit is portrayed as naive and backwards and the most common phrase"men are trash". Access to a woman's body and soul is not even treated like the privilege that it is.
Let this be your reminder..... Women are powerful creatures in their femininity.
If you take a peek at history, the downfall of most great and powerful dynasties were simply orchestrated by a devious woman! The creator of chess must have had these in mind before creating the game.
