At Home With Nyatichi

I saw a writer on Tiktok interview himself. He had recently published a book and aspires to be famous so he is taking a step to manifest that future. I think it's a brilliant idea. Waiting to get noticed on the internet can be nerve wrecking and it never hurts to better your chances. I wanted to do the same, so here goes.....

An interview with Nyatichi

How did you get into writing?

My earliest memory of writing anything that was not related to school was when I wrote my first novel in high school. It was a romantic thriller titled "the roommate". It got amazing reviews from my classmates who indulged chapter after chapter, week after week. Eventually it was this document of four A4 books glued together cover to cover.

I had so much fun writing it.

What went through your mind the first time you posted on the blog?

I was terrified of putting my thoughts and insecurities on the internet for people to judge. The first article was in my drafts for three months before I published. I kept re-writing and re-reading it to make it prefect, asking myself what people would think.

But one day I hit publish and then it was too late to worry.

Did you always want to be a writer?

Yes and no! I have always read and admired writers but I sort of stubble into it myself.

I could put words to paper easily when journaling so when my desire to share my wellness journey grew, it sealed the deal for me. Now, I really enjoy sharing the lessons I learn from finding myself.

What's one of the best comments you have received from your readers?

I don't have a favorite one. I really appreciate any feedback I receive because it motivates me, and there is nothing more blissful than getting a thoughtful message from a reader.

But what stands out is when someone hits subscribe. It's such a huge compliment.

What's your worst nightmare as a blogger?

Mean comments! I dread harsh feedback from strangers on the internet but so far, I haven't received anything I can't handle.

What inspires you?

In the first year, I wanted to talk about my wellness journey to anyone that wasn't my family or friend. But now, I am inspired by two things.

The first is that I have not seen my story in any of the books or blogs I have read. And I have read thousands so far. So I document my unique perspective to inspire anyone that can relate.

The second; is that I want to be a "big sister" to all of you. I share all that I wish someone had told me about healing myself, growing my career and finding health and happiness.

Besides blogging, what else do you enjoy doing?

Reading. I make time everyday to expose myself to all kinds of writing.

What's your preferred genre?

Memoirs and self-help books and blogs are the top of my list.

What are you currently reading?

Welcome Home: A Guide to Building a Home for Your SouL. A book by Najwa Zebian

Who is your favorite bloggers?

Marie-Eve from the blog 'Centered within'. She is an incredible writer and psychotherapist.

How is Kenyan's writing scene?

Nairobi is pulsing with creative energy, writers and the alike. I am looking forward to making a sustainable income from my writing as well as blogging.

Any other pass time?

Yes, photography. I love to take beautiful pictures to go with my writing. It's an exciting way to up my game.

Besides, photographs are so much fun to look back on.

Whats the best advice you have ever been given?

You are not set in stone. You change all the time. What you like in your early 20s will no longer suits you in your 30s. You will have different tastes, styles, inclinations and routines. There is no set you so take the pressure off of you by understanding that you are an ever evolving being.

The advice was given by a stranger that sat next to me on a flight from Kisumu to Nairobi.

What is the worst advice you have ever received?

"Be realistic", they say.

I think being 'realistic' is to plan for mediocrity.

Never limit yourself, dream as big as possible.

What should your subscribers expect from you moving forward?

More exciting content. A journal titled "100 days of self-discovery". A self-help book and so much more to help them heal and transform into their best selves.

Everyone, including you, should take time to interview themselves. It might sound crazy but it's the truth. Ask yourself the right kind of questions to bring you closer to who you are now, and who you want to be.

I had so much fun writing this post. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me. Like, share and subscribe.

Have a great new week!
