How To Wear A Slit Skirt

You might not be walking down a red carpet or a runway anytime soon, but that is not to say you shouldn't try one of this year's sexiest trends: the slit skirt. Sometimes all we want is to add some sexiness to our everyday looks and the alluring silhouette of the slit skirt does exactly that.

Still, many of you may not want to intentionally play up the seductive nature of the piece for fear of showing too much skin. So, I decided to write about how to keep things classy and timelessly cool in a slit skirt.

With A Long-sleeve Blouse and Open-toe Heels

Show off your figure by tucking a full sleeved blouse into a slim pencil skirt—the long sleeves make sure things don't read too overt and the open toe heels elongate your legs and show skin in the right places.

With A T-shirt and Strappy Sandals

Try a bold design for the slit skirt and pair it with a solid Tshirt.

There are so many interesting slit skirt designs to choose from, including beautiful wrap styles, asymmetrical versions, tulips skirts, pencil skirts, and even adjustable slits by means of buttons and zippers. The eye-catching design of the skirt will undoubtedly complement your look.

With a Menswear-Inspired Shirt and Ankle Boots

For a "I woke up like this" feel, throw on a oversized men's shirt and haphazardly tuck it into a body-skimming slit skirt and top it all off with pointy-toe ankle to boot up the decidedly cool-girl vibe.

With a Light Sweater and Strappy Heels

On days when sun is not out in it's full glory and you still want to rock the slit skirt, pair it with a floaty slit skirt with a lightweight sweater and strappy heels—you'll feel seasonally appropriate, but not too cold!

With a Cropped Leather Jacket and Heeled Boots

On leather jacket-wearing days, make sure to choose a cropped boxy style to wear with your slit skirt, it will hint at the body and show off your waist. Finish by adding statement heeled boots.

With Knee-high Boots

Thigh-high slits are quite daring and expose a lot of the leg. If the slit is just too much skin for you but you still love the slit look, opt for a skirt or dress that has a modest slit, perhaps one that stops at the knee. Or you can wear knee-high boots to limit the amount of leg shown. Plus, it’s a seriously gorgeous look.

As a rule, remember to let the slit take center stage and tone down the rest of your look to keep things divinely feminine.
